TIFF announces record number of movies to be screened

Up to 240 movies from 47 countries are to be screened at this year's Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF), which takes place in Cluj-Napoca, from 28 May to 6 June.

Over 400 cinema and film professionals will participate at the festival, TIFF director, Tudor Giurgiu, said on Tuesday.

Among the special guests invited are producer and director Wim Wenders, the president of the European Film Academy, actress Johanna ter Steege, director Samuel Maoz and Romanian legend actor Victor Rebengiuc.

Romanian actress Anamaria Marinca will also be present for the world premiere of her new movie  "The Aviatrix of Kazbek".

Twelve movies are competing for the TIFF trophy this year, among which two Romanian movies "Felicia, înainte de toate" (by R. Răzvan Rădulescu & Melissa de Raaf, 2009), and "Medalia de onoare" (by R. Călin Peter Netzer, 2009).
