Predeal is best ski destination in Eastern Europe

Romanian mountain resort Predeal is the cheapest ski destination in Eastern Europe, in a 25 ranking published by the German newspaper Bild.

The German journalists recommend Predeal, which is situated at around 1,100 metres altitude in the Middle Carpathians, for accommodation prices of 55 Euros per night, in a double room, in January.

Another Romanian mountain resort included in the ranking is Poiana Brasov, in 5th place, with 95 Euros per night. A new skiing area was opened in December in the Poiana Brasov mountain resort, Romania, following a 25 million Euro (24 per cent VAT excluded) investment. Following the opening of the upgraded ski area, the Poiana Brasov ski area increased by 50 hectares to 85 hectares.

Polish mountain resorts are also recommended - Bansko, Szczyrk and Zakopane.

Bild writes the highest prices are charged in Switzerland, where a night at a hotel in St Moritz costs 422 Euros for a standard double room.
