First Christmas tourists at the Ice Hotel were British

A number of 16 tourists from the United Kingdom spent Christmas in the icy rooms of the Ice Hotel at 2,000 metres altitude at Balea Lake, Fagaras Mountains, central Romania.

It is the 7th year the unique ice hotel in Eastern Europe is built of blocks of ice from the lake.

The tourists discovered the unusual destination with the help of the tourism agency Untravelled Paths.

Hundreds of tourists will enjoy the ice accommodation this year, next to the ice restaurant and bar.

The hotel has 10 rooms, a restaurant and a bar.
