Motorcycle rides on Romania's highest and most spectacular mountain road

Motorcycle rides are available on Romania's highest mountain road, Transalpina, which connects historical regions Transylvania and Oltenia.

Transalpina Road, the highest mountain road in Romania (2,145m above sea level), crossing Paring Mountains, is one of the most spectacular roads of the Carpathian Mountains, offering a 100 kilometres ride. It was built in 1938 by King Carol II, with strategic mission, and then rebuilt by German troops during World War Two.

The road was reconstructed and paved completely and it is open to motorists and drivers with enthusiasm for mountain scenery.

Less famous than Transfagarasan Road, Transalpina is considered to be the best paved motorcycle road by local motorcyclists, offering the possibility of some superb motorcycle riding, according to local Adventure Motorcycle Tours team.

Adventure Motorcycle Tours offers rides for lone riders as well as for groups of riders.

The team welcomes riders, who can fly to Cluj-Napoca or Targu Mures, from where they can be collected and transferred by car to the garage, collect a rented motorcycle, complete with a full tank of fuel.
