A new direct flight between the two capitals, Zagreb and Bucharest, will strenghten the ties between Croatia and Romania, has been mentioned at a meeting of delegations of the two countries.
Romanian Chief Diplomat Teodor Baconschi and Croatian Minister of Foreign Affairs Gordan Jandrokovic met on Tuesday in Zagreb to discuss the bilateral relations between the two countries, Croatian Times reports.
As Croatian website Vjesnik.hr writes, they both agree relations between the two countries as "very good".
Regarding the economic cooperation with today's merchandise trade of 180 million Euros, the plan is to raise it through the new flights. There is also the potential for growth through cooperation in the fields of energy, tourism and in the metal industry as well as in protecting national minorities.
"On the western Croatian peninsula of Istria there is a small Romanian society and we discussed how to help them to preserve their identity." Croatian Minister Jandrokovic said. In Romania, where 7,000 Croats live, they have been represented in the Romanian parliament since 2000.
"I am convinced that Romania will be one of the first EU countries to ratify the Croatian Accessment Agreement and we are hoping that Romanian experience will help Croatia to become a worthy EU member." Romanian Chief Diplomat Teodor Baconschi pointed out.
