Tourists change their opinion for the better on Romania after visiting it

Foreign tourists who have visited Romania have changed their opinion on the country for the better, according to a survey by the THR company, which will also re-brand the country for tourists.

The survey also showed that tourists who came to Romania did it for the nature and the landscapes.

THR marketing director Jorn Gieschen said foreign tourists would prefer to spend holidays in Romania for the "authentic experiences", like assisting in making traditional food.

The survey showed 29 per cent of the respondents would consider spending their holidays in Romania, while 44 per cent said no.

Most of the respondents said they haven't travelled to Romania yet because of lack of information, insecurity and a lack of appeal.

Some 56 per cent of the foreigners who had already spent holidays in Romania said they would return and would recommend it to friends, while 30 per cent said they wouldn't.

A number of 10,800 tourists from eight European countries (Germany, France, Italy, UK, Austria, Russia, Hungary and the USA) have answered by phone to the study.
