Romanian boxing champion Lucian Bute will be challenged for his IBF title by British Carl Froch, it was announced today (Fri).
Bute, who lives in Canada, will meet Froch in Nottingham on 26 May in the 7,000 seater Carol FM Arena, according to Mediafax news agency.
Froch’s manager Eddie Hearn said this would be one of the most important boxing matches held in the United Kingdom, according to sportinglife.com.
Lucian Bute, 31, defeated Jamaican Glen Johnson and kept his IBF world title for the ninth time in November last year in Quebec.
Bute has 30 victories to his name in the professional league, out of which 24 ended in KOs and no defeat.
Carl Froch has 28 victories out of 30 matches.
