Shakhtar Donetsk coach released from hospital

Romanian football coach Mircea Lucescu, 66, was released from the University Hospital in Bucharest today (Mon), following a road traffic accident two weeks ago.

Lucescu, who is the head coach of Ukraine's Shakhtar Donetsk, thanked the doctors for their care.

Lucescu, who had to undergo surgery after breaking several ribs after his car collided with a tram, said he hoped "to be on the football pitch as soon as possible."

"I have another medical check-up on Friday and, if the specialist agrees, I want to go to my team, Shakhtar Donetsk."

During his stay in hospital, he was visited twice by the Ukrainian billionaire Rinat Ahmetov, the owner of the football club Shakhtar Donetsk.
