Bute will no longer meet Froch

A match between Romanian boxer Lucian Bute and British Carl Froch, scheduled for this year, will no longer take place, according to Boxing News.

According to TVA Sports, the TV channel Showtime is not interested in broadcasting a match between Lucian Bute and Carl Froch, former WBC world champion, with 28 victories and 2 defeats. Showtime considers it would not be economically feasible.

The Romanian may meet Andre Ward or Bernard Hopkins instead according to Boxing News.

Back in November, world super-middleweight champion Lucian Bute retained his title, for the ninth time, winning over Jamaican Glen Johnson.

Romanian Lucian Bute won against Johnson on points, with a dominant unanimous decision (Benoit Roussel scored Bute 120-108, Pasquale Procopio 119-109 and Jerry Roth 120-108), at the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec, Agerpres reports.

Bute, 32, succeeded in this 30th professional match with as many victories to his name, of which 24 were KOs.

Bute had defended his super-middleweight champion belt for the eighth time, when he KOed French Jean Paul Mendy in the fourth round at Romexpo in Bucharest in July last year.
