Romanians at Australian Open

Seven Romanian tennis players are competing at the Australian Open, which starts on Monday in Melbourne.

Sorana Cîrstea will meet Australian Samantha Stosur (6th favourite), while Alexandra Dulgheru will fight for qualification with Russian Vera Zvonareva (7th favourite) in the first tour at the Australian Open.

Monica Niculescu will meet French Alize Cornet, while Simona Halep's adversary is not known yet, according to the official webste of the competition.

Romanian Alexandra Cadanţu will meet Italain Roberta Vinci and Irina-Camelia Begu will play against Spanish Carla Suarez Navarro.

In men's competition, Victor Hanescu will meet, in the first tour, German Tobias Kamke.

Australian Open has a total of 26 million dollars awards, and it takes place from 16 to 29 January in Melbourne.
