Billionaire Rinat Ahmetov came to Bucharest to see Lucescu

Romanian Times

Ukraine's wealthiest businessman, Rinat Ahmetov, owner of the football team Shakhtar Donetsk, came to Bucharest yesterday (Sun) to visit the coach of his team, Romanian Mircea Lucescu, who is in hospital after a car crash.

The billionaire, whose wealth is estimated at 16 billion Euros, came to visit Lucescu, before surgery.

He came by private plane and stayed for four hours in Romania. He said he would return maybe on 15 January.

He told journalists there was no need to bring other doctors, as the Romanians at the University Hospital were very good, and that Lucescu talked only about football during the meeting. He brought him as a present a jumper in the team's colours.

Mircea Lucescu, 67, was hospitalised at the University Hospital in Bucharest, after the car he had been driving, collided with a tram.

He suffered more broken ribs and has blood in the thorax cavity, so he was operated on yesterday (Sun).

Back in 2009, Mircea Lucescu suffered a mild heart attack and was operated on in Donetsk.

Lucescu is the only Romanian coach to win the UEFA Cup in 2009 with Shakhtar Donetsk.
