Shakhtar Donetsk's coach has severe traffic accident in Bucharest

Football coach Mircea Lucescu, now at Ukrainian team Shakhtar Donetsk, was injured today (Fri) in a traffic accident in Bucharest.

Mircea Lucescu, 67, was hospitalised at the University Hospital in Bucharest, after his car that he was driving, collided with a tram.

Doctor Catalian Carstoiu told Agerpres that his life was not in danger, but he had suffered a thorax contusion. He suffered more broken ribs and has blood in the thorax cavity. He was hospitalised and is currently on the intensive care ward.

Back in 2009, Mircea Lucescu suffered a mild heart attack and was operated on in Donetsk.

Lucescu is the only Romanian coach to win the UEFA Cup in 2009, with his Shakhtar Donetsk .
