A Romanian radio sport commentator set a world record for the longest broadcast of a goal, without breathing, according to the World Records Academy.
Ilie Dobre from public Radio Romania News broadcast a 27 second-long "gooooal" shout during the European League match Gaz Metan Medias versus KUPS Kuopio-Finland.
The previous (unofficial) world record was 19 seconds, set in Argentina.
Ilie Dobre said:
"I'm doing this for about 30 years now, almost 1,300 games."
"I have listened to soccer match broadcasts live on radio and TV in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, Spain, Portugal, Italy, England, Germany, Egypt and I have noticed that their commentators can't match my broadcast of a goal."
He had also set the world record for the longest broadcast of a goal without breathing, with a 42 second-long goal shout in 2006, during the match Romania - Bulgaria, when Cirpian Marica scored.
