A majority of Romanian Times readers believe Romanian international Adrian Mutu has ended his career after testing positive for sibutramine in anti-doping tests by his team Fiorentina in January.
In the poll, 42.9 per cent answered "Yes, he has definitely ended his career" in response to the question "Has Adrian Mutu ended his career because of his second positive doping test?"
Meanwhile, 33.3 per cent of the readers believe Mutu is not to blame since he didn't know the pills he took contained sibutramine, and 23.8 per cent of the readers said "I don't know".
The Italian National Anti-doping Court suspended Mutu last Friday after he had failed anti-doping tests, the Italian National Olympic Commitee (NOC) said that day. The length of the suspension has not been revealed, meanings it's indefinite for the time being.
Mutu will be questioned by Italian Olympic Committee anti-doping prosecutors.
Mutu tested positive for sibutramine twice in tests carried out on 10 January after a match with Bari and on 20 January after a match with Lazio. Mutu scored two goals in the match against Lazio Roma that his team Fiorentina won by a score of 3-2. It thereby qualified for the Italy Cup semi-finals.
Sibutramine is an anorectic or appetite suppressant that reduces a person’s desire to eat.
