Lucescu announces squad for Poland match

Romanian national football team head coach Razvan Lucescu announced today (Fri) the names of the 23 players for the upcoming friendly against Poland.

International Adrian Mutu is out of the question after knee surgery he underwent today, according to information from his club Fiorentina. The surgery went well,  and he is expected to be back on the pitch next year.

The goalkeepers for the national team are Costel Pantilimon (FC Timisoara), Danut Coman (FC Brasov) and Mircea Bornescu (FC Rapid Bucuresti).

Others include Cristian Sapunaru (FC Porto), Mirel Radoi (Al-Hilal Saudi Club), Dorin Goian (US Citta di Palermo), Cristian Chivu (FC Internazionale Milano), Razvan Rat (FC Sakhtar Donetk), Mihai Nesu (FC Utrecht) and Tiberiu Ghioane (FC Dinamo Kiev).

Daniel Niculae (AJ Auxerre), Ciprian Marica (VfB Stuttgart), Gheorghe Bucur (FC Timisoara) and Andrei Cristea (FC Dinamo Bucuresti) have been called up as strikers.

Romania meets Poland in a friendly match a week from tomorrow in Warsaw.
