Romanian gymnast Marian Dragulescu received an honorary title from President Traian Basescu yesterday (Tues) for his results at the London Gymnastics World Championships.
Mihai Covaliu, the coach of the Romanian fencing team, received an honorary title together with Rares Dumitrescu, number two in the world at individual fencing at the World Championships in fencing in Turkey this year.
Dragulescu surprisingly won two gold medals this past weekend at the London Gymnastics World Championships.
Dragulescu, 28, won the gold medal in the floor exercise on Saturday and the gold medal in the vault on Sunday.
His success was a big surprise since he had announced his retirement after the 2008 Beijing Olympics because of neck and back problems.
The Romanian athlete had previously won gold medals in those events at the 2001 and the 2006 World Championships.
