Sorana Cirstea loses in doubles and singles at the US Open

Romanian tennis player Sorana Cirstea has been eliminated from doubles and singles competition at the US Open in New York.

Cirstea and her partner Dane Caroline Wozniacki lost to US sisters Serena and Venus Williams, who qualified for the quarterfinals in doubles, by a score of 6-4, 6-2 yesterday (Sun).

Cirstea was also defeated in singles competition by doubles parnter Wozniacki by a score of 6-3, 6-2 in the third round yesterday.

Cirstea, ranked 26th in the world, was ousted from the US Open with better results than during her first appearance there last year, when she was eliminated in the second round.

All other Romanian tennis players competing at the US Open this year lost in the first round.
