Sibiu International Theatre Fest to feature some 2,500 artists

The 19th edition of Sibiu International Theatre Festival, to kick off on 25 May, will feature, for ten days, more than 2,500 artists from all over Europe and Israel.

The theme of this year edition of the prestigious theatre event is "Crises, Culture makes the difference".

Some of the most successful theatre companies will stage shows in Sibiu’s Big Square, the medieval landmark of the city and of Transylvania. Performances will take place in unconventional locations throughout the festival, in the street, churches and historical sites.

The international theatre festival in Sibiu is one of the most prestigious cultural events in Europe and had a major contribution to the development of the German medieval city that led to Sibiu being chosen the European Cultural Capital of Europe in 2007.
Among the most famous theatre companies to perform this year in Sibiu are  Schauspielhaus Graz, Maxim Gorky from Berlin, The Need Company, Swedish company Burnt Out Punks, Close Act from the Netherlands and Vertigo from Israel.

The festival will also include live music shows and a film section as well.
