Every night is a sell out performance at this extraordinary theatre in Austria.

But when your total capacity is just eight seats, standing room only isn't so much a tribute as a fact of life.

The Kremlhof Theatre in Villach may measure just over four feet by four feet, but Guinness World Records officials have nominated it for the title as the planet's smallest playhouse in regular use.

Opened in 2009, the theatre is home to two drama companies and regularly hosts opera and ballet productions as well as plays.

Theatre director Felix Strasser explained: "All year round we put on in-house and guest productions in theatre, ballet, musical theatre, theatre for children and literature readings. It is a unique offering."
