Ski resort bosses in Austria have stopped the new season slipping away through lack of snow - by spreading tons of the stuff over their slopes stored from record snowfalls last year.

The 15,000 cubic metre mountain has been kept preserved throughout the summer in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria, under layers of wood chippings and metal foil to keep the cold in

It's first use will be in the Swatch snow mobile skidoo race next week at the resort popular with British skiers.
