Kevin Costner praises Romania in an interview

Oscar actor Kevin Costner, who is filming a historic series in Romania, "Hatfields and McCoys" said in an interview for Realitatea TV: "You Romanians took your country back by 20 years, and it takes a lot of courage to do that. There were plenty of reasons for people to believe this was not possible. And you proved yourself and the whole world that you wish for independence."

He said he first found out about Romania when gymnast Nadia Comaneci was graded 10 at the 1976 Olympic Games.

Kevin Costner, 56, stars in a History Channel TV mini-series, "The Hatfields and McCoys: An American Vendetta". The series describes the rivalry between two families, the Hatfields and the McCoys, during the first years after the American Civil War.

The TV series is filmed at the Romanian film production company Castel Film.

American actor Kevin Costner is famous for his roles in "Dances with Wolves", "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" and "JFK", among others.
