Paula Seling &Ovi to compete in the Eurovision contest

Romanian artists Paula Seling and Ovi (Ovidiu Cernauteanu) have been chosen to represent Romania at the Eurovision song contest in May in Oslo.

The song "Playing with Fire" received the maximum number of votes from the jury and 23,412 telephone votes this past Saturday evening.

Seling said: "I feel like I'm dreaming,"and thanked her parents and supporters.

Ovi, who composed the song, said its concept would be developed for the semi-finals in Oslo.

According to the Eurovision Contest's website, Romania will participate in the second semi-finals, which will take place on 27 May. The top ten countries in each semi-final will advance to the finals.

Last year, Romania was represented by Elena Gheorghe with the song "The Balkan Girls," which came in 19th.

Romania’s greatest success at Eurovision competition so far was third place in 2005 with the song "Let me try" performed by Luminita Anghel and Sistem.
