Dog gets a discount for monthly public-transport ticket

Emiliano Albensi

The top manager of public transport in a town in northern Italy has given a special discount to a dog for use of public buses in its status as the companion of its worker owner.

Bruno is a 13-month-old mongrel living in Padova with its owner Meda Sordu, a 34-year-old Romanian woman working in a shop in the city centre.

The top manager of Sita public transport company gave a special discount to Sordu for a monthly-ticket for her dog.

She pays 44 instead of 56 Euros a month. The manager justified the discount by explaining that Bruno was a "worker’s companion".

Bruno is the first such worker companion in Italy.
