Anti-virus giant Symantec has confirmed a Romanian hacker known as "Unu" has broken into the company's website.
International media reported the hacker boasted about how he got into the firm’s database on his own blog.
The company said its was now updating its website.
"Unu" denied using the data "irresponsibly" and said he had only wanted to show up vulnerabilities in Symantec’s website.
He also claims to have hacked into the website of the International Herald Tribune.
