Dinica closely monitored for blood infection

Actor Gheorghe Dinica, 75, is being treated in hospital for a blood infection five days after he was admitted with respiratory problems.

Sources cited in local media said Dinica is still being closely monitored in the intensive care unit at Bucharest’s Floreasca Emergency Hospital.

He was admitted on Thursday with a respiratory infection and there were subsequent complications, it has been reported.

Dinica, one of Romania’s most actors, made his debut as an actor with the film "The Stranger" in 1963 and has starred in over 60 films since then, including "The Afternoon of a Torturer," "Filantropica," "Regina" (TV Series), "Inima de tigan" (TV Series). Dinica also performed in famous Romanian theatre groups and acted in "Tache, Ianke and Cadâr," "The Name of the Rose," "Waiting for Godot," and many other famous plays.

He also released several folk music albums alongside famous actor Stefan Iordache and famous artist Nelu Ploiesteanu.
