Thousands of tourists expected at Medieval Festival in Sighisoara

Romanian Times

Tourists are expected to go back in time during the Medieval Festival in Sighisoara in Transylvania that takes place this week-end.

Thousands of tourists are expected to flood the town’s medieval streets during the most important medieval festival in Romania.

Knights and ladies will raid the historical centre of Sighisoara, one of the best-preserved medieval towns in the world.

Many theatre shows, medieval music concerts and tournaments will take place, as artists from Spain, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Sweden, France and the UK are scheduled to perform.

Sighisoara, inhabited since the 13th century, has been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and is the last inhabited medieval citadel in Eastern Europe.
