State secretary investigated for corruption

State secretary for revolutionaries' problems, George Costin, was detained by
anti-corruption prosecutors today (Mon).

George Costin was heard at the Prosecutor's Office in Pitesti today (Mon) and then
detained for 24 hours under suspicion of corruption and bribery taking.

Prime Minister Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu signed an order to release him from his
position, following the launch of this investigation.

According to reports, Costin organised a network of issuing, for money, revolutionary
certificates, which give rights to their holders, such as tax exemptions.

Prosecutors performed house searches at the headquarters of the Revolutionaries
Association in Campulung Muscel and took documents for investigation.

Judges at the Arges Court are going to decide on the arrest warrant, demanded by
prosecutors.
