Teo Trandafir resigns over health problems

Former TV star Teo Trandafir announced today (Fri) she was resigning from her position as lawmaker.

Teo Trandafir, 43, a lawmaker for the ruling Democrat Liberal Party, said her decision comes as a result of her bad health.

Trandafir was elected as a PDL deputy in May 2010, for a Bucharest college.

The Romanian lawmaker was operated on for the second time at the AKH Hospital in Vienna, for an acute pancreatic illness in April last year.

The surgery was necessary in order to eliminate necrosis from her abdomen, doctors explained.

Trandafir underwent major surgery in February as well for a pancreatic illness and an abdominal infection.

Trandafir is a much loved public figure who ended her TV career three years ago. She hosted several TV entertainment shows.
