Fourteen died as temperatures dropped to -32 C

Fourteen persons died in Romania in recent days, due to low temperatures, the Health Ministry said today (Weds).

Six persons died in the last 24 hours alone, in Arad, Vrancea, Satu Mare, Sambovita and Iasi counties.

Nearly 350 persons were transported by emergency services to hospitals and social assistance centres in the last day, to save them from freezing in the streets.

Meteorologists warn that temperatures as low as minus 27 degrees are expected until Friday.

The lowest temperature registered so far this winter was minus 32.5 degrees Celsius last night (Tues/Weds), at Intorsura Buzaului, Covasna county, central Romania.
