Prime Minister Emil Boc blamed the opposition lawmakers as "immature" and "irresponsible" and said they were acting like "at the kindergarden", after they announced yesterday (Mon) they were going on parliamentary strike, to force anticipated elections.
Emil Boc said on public television last night: "This decision is immature and irresponsible.
"When you have a job for which you get paid for, you need to do your duty. It is not like at kindergarden, you're angry, you're taking your toys and you leave for home.
"It is an inconsistent move."
Leader of the National Liberal party (PNL), Crin Antonescu, announced that the opposition Social Liberal Union (USL), formed of three opposition parties - PNL, PSD and PC - are going on parliamentary strike.
Antonescu said all lawmakers would withdraw from parliamentary activities in a protest measure to the ruling power.
He added they would maintain their right to vote, which they want to use, "In exceptionally important situations."
Romania will have legislative elections in November this year, which made ruling lawmakers say that there was no point in organising anticipated elections earlier.
The opposition announcement comes after 18 days of street protests all over Romania.
