Romanian Times

The United Kingdom and Germany currently offer the largest number of jobs to Romanians, an online recruiting website shows.

The UK offers 2,434 jobs to Romanians, while Germany advertises 2,387 jobs, out of a total 16,500 jobs contracts on offer to Romanians interested in working abroad.

Crisis stricken Greece offers 2,000 jobs, and the US - 1,300.

Over half of the contracts available are seasonal contracts, 20 per cent - for skilled workers, 25 per cent for unskilled workers.

Most jobs are available in tourism, hotels, restaurants, and in the medical system.

A number of 32 states offer jobs to Romanian workers.

The eleven EU states that kept their labour markets closed to Romanians and Bulgarians at the end of 2011 are: Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland, France, Italy, Luxemburg, Malta, the Netherlands, Austria and the UK.

Of them, nine decided to keep work restrictions and notified the EC in time, by 31 December 2011, namely : the UK, Ireland, Germany, Belgium, France, Luxemburg, Malta, the Netherlands, and Austria. They do not need the EC's approval to prolong the ban, said the commission.

Italy and the Czech Republic informed the commission they would fully apply the EU legislation regarding the free movement of workforce starting on 1 January 2012, said the EC.

The commission reiterated that all EU labour market restrictions must be lifted by 31 December 2013 at the latest.
