President Traian Basescu said yesterday evening (Tues) that he had recently noticed "a delight about demolition" mentioning the statements made in the context of street protests by former President Ion Iliescu and opposition leaders Victor Ponta and Crin Antonescu.
Traian Basescu also stated yesterday, after Cristian Diaconescu (UNPR) took the oath of office for the Foreign Affairs Ministry: "One can perceive a joy of demolition, perhaps the internationally acknowledged accomplishment is a bitter pill to swallow for many.
"I cannot but notice that the message sent by Ion Iliescu who, almost from his operating table, said that the incumbent president should be held responsible, as he is still to be held responsible for both the miners' riots and the victims of the Revolution.
"I noticed Crin Antonescu and Victor Ponta who call for the president, government and parliament to step down. That is, an ungoverned Romania."
He added that the message of Ion Iliescu or of the opposition leaders was similar to that of the President of the Republic of Moldova Vladimir Voronin.
Romanians have protested in the streets in the last 12 days, all over the country, asking for the government and the president's resignation.
