One in three Romanians wants to leave the country

Romanian immigration figures show that one in three people want to leave the country for new homes like Britain so they can retire with a decent pension.

The poll - conducted by local employment experts Myjob - showed 30.42 per cent of those asked said they plan to leave the country to ensure a better retirement.

More than half - 55 per cent - said they think tougher new pension rules in the country means they'll never qualify for a state handout in their homeland.

Only 4.4 per cent say they believe they'll have a decent pension, while 2.58 per cent opt for a private pension scheme.
