Cosa Nostra member to be extradited to Italy

Judges at the Court of Appeals in Bucharest confirmed yesterday (Tues) a warrant for the arrest of the Cosa Nostra member detained by Romanian police in Bucharest.

Giuseppe Scuderi, 44, has been put into preventive detention for 29 days, during which procedures for his extradition to Italy will be undertaken. Scuderi is wanted by Italian authorities for murder.

Scuderi was convicted by a Catania court, and a warrant for his arrest was issued on 26 March 2009.

According to Agerpres, Scuderi was arrested by Bucharest police on Monday at a casino.

Romanian police said the man was a member of the Sicilian Mafia, according to information from their Italian counterparts.
