Nineteen roads closed due to bad weather

Heavy snowfall and gusty wind in Bucharest and thirteen counties blocked traffic over the weekend.

Motorways linking capital Bucharest, southeastern Cernavoda and southern Pitesti are closed due to bad weather. Another 17 national roads have been closed by the road authority because blizzards have made it impossible to use them.

On Friday, weather authorities issued a yellow code advisory forecasting snow and gusty wind throughout the southern half of the country from Saturday morning through Monday evening.

The advisory was later expanded to include Bucharest and southeastern counties Gorj, Mehedinti, Dolj, Olt, Valcea, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Calarasi, Ilfov, Ialomita, Buzau, Braila and Galati.
