Dublin police arrest Romanian for murder

Anca Enoiu

A Romanian man will appear in Dun Laoighre District Court today (Weds) in the case of the murder of a Romanian woman last week, Dublin police said.

The Gardaí or police in Dundrum who are investigating the circumstances of the death of Loredana Pricajan in an apartment in Sandyford last Thursday, arrested the man, 48, yesterday.

He was found with stab wounds in the same apartment and underwent surgery at St. Vincents Hospital in Dublin.

The Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry has confirmed that a Romanian man has been accused of the murder of nurse Pricajan, 35, in Dublin and said he had received assistance from the Romanian embassy in Dublin, meaning a list of lawyers who could represent him.

An interpreter will be provided in case one is needed, the Ministry added.

An initial police investigation concluded she had had a fight with the Romanian, with whom she had a relationship, as she didn't want to return to Romania but to continue her life in Ireland, where she had been living for six years, her family in Romania said.
