Health authorities extend swine-flu vaccination campaign

Romanian Times

Health authorities will start swine-flu vaccinations of people suffering from chronic diseases next week, officials said today (Weds).

Family doctors will start vaccinating people over 16 who are suffering from chronic illnesses like pulmonary disease, diabetes, obesity, and liver problems.

Health authorities also announced that large companies whose employees were in direct contact with the public would be able to ask the Health Ministry to vaccinate them. The vaccine is not for sale in Romania, as it is distributed only by health authorities.

Retailer Kaufland has already arranged to have its 8,000 employees vaccinated.

Over 1.3 million vaccine doses have been distributed country wide, and over 25,000 people, especially medical and school personnel, have been vaccinated since the end of November.
