Romania warned over air quality

Romanian Times

Romania today (Fri) received a first written warning from the European Commission over failure to improve air quality.

The European Commission sent letters to Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Greece, France, Hungary, and the Slovak Republic as well as Romania over excess emissions of tiny airborne particles known as PM 10.

European legislation obliges Member States to introduce limit values for PM 10 by 2005.

Romania was warned that it had to submit a notification that it had failed to improve air quality before the end of March 2009, but failed to do so.
