Basescu to promulgate public agency and unitary wage laws

Romanian Times

President Traian Basescu said yesterday (Weds) he would promulgate the unitary wage law and the law on the reorganization of public institutions today.

Basescu said the laws' promulgation was important for compliance with the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

"It is important that commitments to the IMF be respected," he said, adding he would talk with the political parties to address any questions they might have.

The Romanian Constitutional Court ruled yesterday that the law on reorganization of certain public authorities and the public-sector unitary-wage law were constitutional.
