Romanian pupils win awards in astrophysics competition

The Romanian team won first place among European countries in the third edition of the International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad from 19 to 26 October in Iran.

The team won four medals - two gold and two silver - an honourable mention and a special prize, the Education Ministry said today (Tues).

More than 100 pupils from over 20 countries took part in the competition.

The Romanian team ranked the highest among European teams, surpassing teams from Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania, Serbia, Slovakia and Belarus, and finished third after India and Iran overall.
