Romanian ranks 48th in Prosperity Index

Romania ranks 48th in the world and last in the European Union in the Legatum Prosperity Index, which inventories 104 countries in the world.

Slovenia (20th), the Czech Republic (25th), Hungary (28th), and Poland (29th) are
the Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries that were in the top third of the Index.

Slovenia was cited for its performance on education, security, and its government’s capacity to foster economic growth. The Czech Republic achieved its ranking by outscoring other Eastern countries in regard to personal freedom and its population’s overall health.

The world's most-prosperous countries are in Europe, with Finland first and the UK 12th, Germany 14th and France 17th.

Romania is outranked by Bulgaria (46th) and the United Arab Emirates (47th) and followed by Jamaica (48th). Romania ranked low in regard to personal freedom.

The Legatum Prosperity Index is a global assessment of wealth and well-being.
