Legalise prostitution, presidential committee says

The decriminalization of drug consumption and the legalization of prostitution were proposed by a presidential committee today (Tues).
The Presidential Committee for the Analysis of Social and Demographic Risks made the proposals in a report released today, claiming they would reduce, in certain conditions, several public-health risks.
The committee proposed the introduction, in districts with drug problems, of coin-operated clean-needle dispensers to prevent the sharing of needles. The committee said "decriminalisation of drug consumption - not trafficking - would bring consumers to the surface."
The committee also recommended the legalization of "commercial sex" and the creation of services and special centres where prostitutes could receive free condoms as well as medical, social and psychological assistance.
