In the same time, exports of new cars increased by 4.4 percent in comparison to the same period in 2011, reaching 122.557 units. The exports of commercial vehicles dropped by 24.5 percent to some 7,092 units. The drop was prompted by the cancellation of the production of Transit Connect car manufactured by Ford at Craiova (South), which will be soon replaced with the B-max model. Dacia Duster continues to lead in the exports demands, with some 11,477 sold in May and a total of 59,754 units exported in the first five months of the year, followed by the Sandero model (6,867 units in May and 27,689 in 2012) and Logan (3,720 units sold in May). The Duster totals 49 percent of the cars exported by Romania while Logan doubled its exports as against last year with 18.209 sold (9,893 in 2011). Dacia tops the sells chart of new cars in Romania in the first five months of the year, followed by Volkswagen, Skoda, Renault, Ford and Hyundai.
