Romania's industrial output increased by 15.6 per cent in 2011, the National Statistics Institute (INS) said today (Weds).
It was triggered by the increases in the processing industries (15.9 per cent) and the mining industry (8.3 per cent), Agerpres reports.
The turnover was up in all the big industrial groups: The energy industry advanced 23.8 per cent; the intermediary goods industry was up 21.4 per cent; the capital goods industry was up 13.9 per cent; the consumer goods industry advanced 7.6 per cent, while the durables industry was up 5.3 per cent.
The output in December 2011 was down 10.2 per cent on a monthly basis as a result of a 10.5 per cent drop in the processing industries and a 3.2 per cent decline in the mining industry.
Monthly drops were recorded in the capital goods industry, which was down 19.1 per cent; the intermediary goods industry, which declined 14.2 per cent; the durable goods industry, down 8.3 per cent and the consumer goods industry, down 2.4 per cent. The energy industry was up 13.5 per cent.
In December 2011 compared with December 2010, Romania's industrial output was up 4.3 per cent following a 7.2 per cent rise in the mining industry and a 4.2 per cent increase in the processing industries.
On the same basis, the output was up 12.5 per cent for intermediary goods; 10.3 per cent for durables; 5.6 per cent for consumer goods and 1.8 per cent for the energy industry. The capital goods industry was down 5.2 per cent.
