Low cost flights move to Bucharest Otopeni airport

Romanian Times

The low cost flights from Bucharest will be moved from the Aurel Vlaicu (Baneasa) Airport to the Henri Coanda (Otopeni) Airport starting on 25 March, it was reported today (Fri).

Airports Company official Valentin Iordache told Agerpres: "Passenger costs will increase by 4 to 4.5 Euros, from our estimates, but services will be superior and we hope the complaints about Baneasa airport's quality of services will be fewer and fewer."

Baneasa Airport will be turned into a business airport for business flights.

Currently, low cost companies Blue Air, Wizz Air, German Wing and Vueling are operating at the Baneasa airport.

Night flights are also restricted in the time from 10pm to 6am at Baneasa Airport.

The two airports near Bucharest - Henri Coanda and Baneasa - had an estimated 7.25 million passengers and 115.6 million Euros in revenues in 2011.
