Romanian currency approaches record low against Euro

The Romanian currency loses strength and is close to reaching the record low exchange rate, according to the National Bank's reference rate today (Weds).

BNR said today (Weds) that one Euro exchanged for 4.3627 RON, which is 0.2 more than on Tuesday. It approaches the lowest ever exchange rate, of 4.3688 RON per Euro, registered in June 2010.

One dollar is worth 3.4190 RON today according to the BNR reference rate.

Back in December, the Romanian currency strengthened to 4.3045 Ron for one Euro.

The favourable currency rate was due to high sums of foreign currency being sold these days, as many Romanians working abroad returned home for the holidays or sent their relatives Euros to sell.
