Pharma market boosted in Q2

The pharma market in Romania registered a boost in the second quarter of this year, a report by marketing and sales reports company Cegedim showed yesterday (Thurs).

The pharma market increased up to 609.2 million Euros, in value, which represents a 35 per cent increase. As far as sales in volume are concerned, sales increased by 12.6 per cent, winning back losses from last year.

Sales increased mostly in retail pharmacies, by 14.2 per cent, while 11.2 per cent drops were registered for sales in hospitals.

The total value of the pharma market in Romania, in the fiscal year that ended 30 June, amounted to 2.17 billion Euros, which is 12.8 per cent more than in the previous fiscal year.

Sanofi-Aventis (including local brand Zentiva) tops the producers' ranking on the Romanian market, with sales of 204.9 million Euros and a market share of 9.6 per cent, the Cegedim report shows.

Swiss pharma group Hoffmann la Roche comes next, with sales worth 195.3 million Euros and a 9.2 per cent market share.

Pfizer (including Wyeth) had sales of 146.5 million Euros and a market share of 6.7 per cent, followed by GlaxoSmithKline with sales of 132.6 million Euros and 6.1 per cent market share.
