Romanians say their financial situations have gotten worse

Sixty per cent of the Romanians say their families' financial situation was worse in February than a year earlier, according to the results of a new poll by GfK Romania.

Only seven per cent of Romanians said in February that their financial situation was better than a year ago.

Forty per cent of respondents said they expected their incomes to fall, and only 20 per cent said their financial situations would improve.

Results also show that 84 per cent of Romanians don't expect to save any money this year.

Higher prices are considered one of the causes of the impossibility of saving money, as 72 per cent said prices had been higher in February this year compared to the same month a year ago.

Nine in ten Romanians fear unemployment will rise this year.

The number of those who intend to buy a new residence is extremely low - unchanged from last year - at five per cent, while only 10 per cent intend to buy a new car.

The poll of 1,000 people was conducted in February.
