Romanians earned less in January than in December

Romanians’ incomes declined by 3.5 per cent in January, compared to December last year, according to data released today (Mon) by the National Statistics Institute (INS).

The net average monthly wage dropped by 3.5 per cent down to 356 Euros (1,426 lei), but it rose by 5.2 per cent year on year, data showed.

The largest raises were registered in the transport sector, in which the average salary was 796 Euros (3,184 lei), while lowest occurred in the garment-manufacturing sector, in which the average salary was only 202 Euros (809 lei).
