About 400 Romtelecom staff will join Ericsson from January next year, following signature of a five-year managed-services agreement with that firm, the company announced today (Weds).
Telecommunications operator Romtelecom outsources field-operation services to boost efficiency and cut costs.
Romtelecom CEO Yorgos Ioannidis said: "This strategic partnership is in line with our commitments to become an even more-efficient operator and to continue to launch new and innovative voice, data, broadband internet and television services for our subscribers."
The contract marks the first managed-services deal for Ericsson in Romania. Ericsson will be responsible for corrective and preventive field maintenance of switching and power systems.
Ericsson is a leading provider of technology and services to telecommunications operators, while Romtelecom is one of Romania's most-important telecommunications operators.
